A Legacy of Advocacy and Care
For over 20 years, CASA of Lea County has been a voice for the most vulnerable.
The organization recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. From courtroom advocacy to supervised family visitations, CASA provides vital support to the community of New Mexico through its four core programs:
- Court Appointed Special Advocacy
- Family Time Visitation Services
- Canine Companion Program
- Emma’s Closet for essential foster care items
In that time, CASA has served over 1,000 children and been nationally recognized for its innovative volunteer recruitment efforts.
But behind each of these programs is a very real need for funding—and much of that support starts with their annual gala.
Building a Record-Breaking Fundraising Experience
Our annual fundraising event is vital to our mission. It generates significant revenue to fill in gaps in programmatic funding and is also used for general operational funding. Many of our supporters were first introduced to us by being invited to a gala.
At a time when some nonprofits are questioning the value of fundraising events, CASA of Lea County is proving just how powerful they can be.

Held at the elegant Hobbs Country Club, CASA’s Casino Night was a fully immersive experience.
Guests enjoyed a professional casino setup, tiered sponsorship perks, and high-energy fundraising games like Bubbles & Bling—where 100 glasses of champagne were sold for $100 each for a chance to win a 1-carat diamond.
"Guests received chips based on their sponsorship level and enjoyed the thrill of 'gambling' throughout the evening," Gallegos shared. "At the end of the night, chips were exchanged for raffle tickets, giving everyone a chance to win exciting prizes!"
The night also featured CASA's most competitive silent and live auctions to date—supercharged by luxury travel consignment from LuxGive.
Beyond the entertainment, the evening served a far greater purpose: building deep, lasting connections.
"Our gala increases visibility and awareness of our organization and mission," Gallegos explained. "It brings donors, volunteers, staff, and community members together in a shared experience, creating emotional connections and reinforcing commitment to our work."
By blending celebration with strategy, CASA turned one evening into lasting momentum—fueling awareness, cultivating support, and advancing their mission for children and families in Lea County.

"The funds raised at our gala directly support and expand the vital services offered through our four core programs,” Gallegos explained.
That includes courtroom advocacy for children navigating the foster care system, supervised family visitations in a safe environment, and comfort through an emotional support dog that helps children feel secure during an incredibly difficult time.
It even means something as tangible as clothing and hygiene items for a child entering foster care—and the peace of mind it brings to the families opening their homes.
