A Mission Rooted In Compassion

Touched By ALS exists to ensure that no patient or family is left to face this fatal disease alone. 

Their mission is to empower the Upstate South Carolina community to fill the gap for those Touched By ALS, providing resources to assist with the physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial needs of individuals and families navigating the disease.

Through direct assistance and community-based support, the organization supports families wherever they are in their journey—offering both practical resources and a sense of connection during an incredibly challenging time.

For Touched By ALS, fundraising events aren't optional—they’re foundational.

“Events are a vital part of our fundraising strategy because they allow us to raise essential funds, increase awareness, and build meaningful community connections around our mission,” the organization shared.

Each event creates space to tell real stories, highlight the needs of ALS patients and their families, and bring supporters together in a powerful, shared experience.

“Events also give us the chance to thank our donors and partners, celebrate the families we serve, and inspire new supporters to get involved,” they explained.

“By combining fundraising with storytelling and community engagement, our events help ensure that Touched By ALS can continue to bridge financial gaps, provide critical resources, and offer hope to ALS families.”

That philosophy guided the planning of their 2nd Annual Kiss My ALS Gala.

The evening welcomed 250 attendees, including sponsors, community partners, families, and supporters, and featured a three-course dinner, silent and live auctions, and mission-focused programming that highlighted the organization’s impact. 

Unlocking New Revenue with Travel Consignment

As the team planned their live auction, they looked for items that would generate excitement while expanding their potential to raise funds. 

“We chose to include consignment experiences in our event because they offer access to unique, high-value items that greatly appeal to our donors and elevate the excitement of our live auction."

Touched by ALS had previously experimented with another consignment company, but were limited to just two trip options. With LuxGive, they were able to build a curated lineup of travel packages that aligned with their audience, event format, and fundraising goals. 

"By offering exclusive trips and experiences from LuxGive, we were able to engage donors at a higher level, create memorable bidding moments, and ultimately maximize the funds raised to support ALS patients and their families." 

Unlike donations or other one-winner items, travel consignment also allowed the nonprofit to sell the same trip to multiple competing bidders. Instead of walking away empty-handed, more guests could say yes—turning what would have been lost bids into meaningful new revenue.

LuxGive experiences allow us to sell multiple packages, which increases revenue potential far beyond what a traditional one-winner item can generate,” they explained. 

In total, they sold 14 experiences, instantly multiplying the funds raised from each auction package without any additional effort.

Funding Life-Changing Support

By night’s end, the event had raised over $258,000—a powerful statement of what intentional event fundraising can achieve.

“The funds raised at our event directly support ALS patients and their families by providing critical resources that improve quality of life and ease the overwhelming financial burden of the disease,” they shared.

From funding home modifications and respite care to providing family support programs and caregiver resources, these dollars are more than just a financial lifeline—they're a promise that no family has to navigate ALS alone.
